More about the Cyberpunk 2020 roleplaying game and its different editions and settings

I totally liked the original Cyberpunk -The Roleplaying game of the dark future originally published in 1988 and set in the year 2013. I really fell in love with the 2nd edition of the Cyberpunk game which was titled Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. and it was first released as a box set, in 1990. The revisited 2nd edition was released in 1991, and it is is even more excellent game, and it was also released as a totally awesome finnish edition.

I have to admit that I really enjoy the most of  all of these different  Cyberpunk 2020 editions, the Cyberpunk 2020 version 2.01, which first saw light in 1993. And the 2013 & 2014 and printings after that are just practically the 1993 gaming book with a bit different cover. Because I haven't ever owned a single own copy of the gaming book, so recently, I went and got my copy from Fantasiapelit in Tampere. I have had whole lotta adventures, supplements, Data Screen, etc. in various languages, tho, but not the main core book. Now I have it, too. And to me it's a gem in my roleplaying game collection.

Whole lotta CYBERPUNK from 1988 to recent times...

The 3rd edition called Cyberpunk V3.0 rpg, is set in the 2030s, with an alternate timeline, and it was published in 2005. It really is its own game. Some dig it and some people love to hate it. I find it interesting take on the timeline and the settings. Different, but not a bad game at all. In Fall of the Year 2019 the Cyberpunk Red Jumpstart Kit was released to make a fuzz and buzz for the forthcoming 4th edition called Cyperpunk Red tabletop roleplaying game, that is obviously linked to the Cyberpunk 2077  action video game. To be exact, the Cyberpunk Red rpg is a prequel for the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. I really like the Cyberpunk Red setting and the streamlined rules. I like the box set, because it really has good qualities from the previous Cyberpunk editions, and it is really an awesome box set, that I do find very usable to use with the Cyberpunk 2020 in its multiple editions

To live as a CyberGeneration  teenager must be even harder than living as an adult in the world of CyberPunk

And to jump even deeper in to the Cyberpunk world and its different settings and alternate takings., I have to mention that I love the Cybergeneration and especially its second edition, which is really cool stand-alone Cyberpunk -game where the player characters are all teenagers! Talking about the hard times of being a teenager! 👾

On Night's Edge, You really live on The Edge of the Night

To be a cyberpunk is a tough job,
but to be a cyberpunk vampire, that's even harder

Night's Edge
is a sourcebook for Cyberpunk 2020 rpg, being an alternate setting with techno horror athmosphere, including vampires, werewolfs, vampire hunters and psychic skills! Join the cyberpunk's nightly creatures! 👻

The Deep Space is a sourcebook for Cyberpunk 2020, where You live your Cyberpunk life in space in the year 2025! FarOut, isn't it?

When the Gravity Fails, in my honest opinion, is totally mind-blowing world-book supplement with a great setting (islamic cyberpunk future set in the world of Effinger's novels), new technology and drugs, and a twisty adventure in the world of the When the Gravity Fails in the same book... Pure rocking geniousness and limitless awesomeness! It was published also as a finnish supplement titled Kun painovoima pettää, as a sourcebook for the finnish edition of the Cyberpunk 2020. Also the Effinger's novel was published with the same title as the sourcebook.

When Grafity Fails as a novel with its many covers and as a Cyberpunk 2020 roleplaying game supplement in english (on the right side of the pic) and in finnish (top leftish Kun painovoima pettää)...

HARDWIRED  is the classic Walter Jon Williams cyberpunk novel that is one major element in creation of the Cyberpunk genre. Hardwired is also an awesome roleplaying game supplement and a sourcebook for Cyberpunk roleplaying game.  I actually like the setting and many rules over the original 2020 Night City setting and its rules. And that is a lot! This supplement really is hard-core kick-ass trip to low-tech cyberpunk nightmare life, at its finest. The finnish edition of the sourcebook is called Rautahermot (which literally means Iron Nerves), which is also the title of the finnish translation of Williams' Hardwired book. The both, rpg book and the novel, are well done and still available in finnish in very affordable price, I gotta add.

Wholesome bunch of HARDWIRED iron nerves...

Hardwired is also a modern miniature agnostic table top wargame for 15mm & 28 mm miniatures, set during the Corporate Wars of 2069 in the mega-city of New Kowloon.  Very interesting stuff, streamlined rules, easy to learn and easy to use. It already has a expansion, too. I totally recommend You to check the game and the Tsim Sha Tsui Expansion. Kick-ass cyberpunk gaming, it is.

Run Cyberpunk Run!

Hopefully this blog post has been helpful for all the peeps who are interested in Cyberpunk rpg, its supplements, its different editions and versions. So with this text of mine, You know a bit more. And know where to get these games. That's all Fo(l)ks this time! Cowabunga and JAUZAAAA! -Krisse Tuominen-
