Dungeon! boardgame is a official Dungeons & Dragons licensed product, which was first released in 1975. It's a great gateway product to fantasy roleplaying games...

DUNGEON! ilmestyi maailmaa ilahduttamaan ensimmäisen kerran jo vuonna 1975.  Peli sai uudistettuja laitoksia -80 ja ysikytluvulla, kadoten ainakin omasta tutkastani pitkäksi aikaa. Ensimmäiset kerrat DUNGEON!ia tulin pelanneeksi jo pienenä lapsena, jonkinlaisena '70-luvun ja jo(i)nain '80-luvun laitoksina. Jostain kumman syystä aina fantasiaelementtejä diganneena, innostuin aivan äärimmäisen paljon Dungeon!in luolastoseikkailuista, louhareista ja tankaweista (oli pikkasen tota r- ja s-vikaa), joilla luolastoja koluttiin. Peliä sitten pelattiin aivan tautisen paljon perheellä, veljien, kamujen, sukulaisten (pappojen, mummojen, faijan broden) kanssa. Soolonakin peräti. Sitä en muista, oliko tuolloin vielä virallisia sääntöjä soolopelaamiselle, mutta jo lapsena tajusin, että mitä vain voi pelailla yksinkin. Niin halutessaan.

I played the Dungeon! the first time when I was a small child and it hit my mind like a hammer! Dungeons, heroes, adventures, treasures, dragons, magic and whole lotta action! I love it back then and I still do love it! Maybe even more than ever! 

Tätä Luolasto!:a, koko perheen fantastista seikkailua, tykkäsin silloin lapsena ja varhaisteininä kovasti pelata, ja siitä olikin erittäin lyhyt matka muihin fantasiateemaisiin, ja ylipäätään seikkailu- -peleihin. Oli helppo siirtyä Dungeon!ista valitse oma seikkailusi -kirjoihin, Magnamund -fantasiaseikkailukirjasiin, Velhovuoren aarre -kirjoihin ja roolipelielementtejä sisältäviin Velhovuoren aarre- ja Talisman -lautaroolipeleihin, kuten niitä siihen aikaan kutsuttiin, tarinankerrontaleikkeihin ja -peleihin, ja ihan oikeisiinkin roolipeleihin. Enkä varmasti ole ainoa, jolle portti fantastisiin luolaseikkailuihin urkeni Dungeon!:in kautta. Peli kuitenkin sisältää Dungeon & Dragonsin tuttuja elementtejä: D&D:ssäkin seikkailevia hahmoja, luolakoluamisia ja hirviöitä myöten, ainoastaan huomattavasti yksinkertaistetummassa muodossa. Matka johonkin aloittelijalle tarkoitettuun kevennettyjen sääntöjen Dunkkarointiin ei tästä Dungeonista ole kovinkaan pitkä.  Ilahduin hiljattain suuresti, kun huomasin että kappas vuaan peijakasta, iki-ihana lapsuuksieni peli Dungeon! onkin täällä keskuudessamme jälleen! Kunnon vanha Dungeon!-lautapeli, mikä on varmasti ollut monelle muullekin oiva portti roolipelaamiseen (ja on varmaan aika monelle yhä), on tullut takaisin keskuuteemme 2014, uudistettuna versiona, kiiltävämpänä ja nätimpänä! Peliin on näin modernina aikakautena tarjolla interwebsin ihmeellisessä maailmassa infoa ja pelilootan mukana painotuotteena tulleen ohjekirjasen, saa myös ruudulleen halutessaan pelin omilta webbisivuilta.

The game has had many revised editions: on '80's and on '90's and it's newest edition is from 2010's and the game still is played around the World with its different, and all as fascinating, editions! 

Oman kopioni 2010-luvun Dungeon!ia hankin, kun AdLibris tarjosi peliä alennettuun hintaan, ja naistenpäivä-kampanjan koodilla tämän sai muun fantastisen (rooli)pelimateriaalin mukana vieläkin edullisempaan hintaan. Dungeon! on virallinen Dungeons & Dragons -roolipelin lisenssituote, joka vie pelaajansa tietenkin seikkailuihin luolastossa, Dungeons & Dragonsin maagisessa ja huisin jännässä fantasiamaailmassa.
💓 DUNGEON! on kaiken muun hyvän lisäksi myös siitä mainio luolastoseikkailupeli, että sitä voi pelata myös soolona. Parasta soolovaihtoehdossa on se, että tarjolla soolopeli(tava)ksi on useita vaihtoehtoja, ja ne kaikki ovat vallan käyttökelpoisia. Tämä tietenkin lisää pelin monipuolisuutta ja potentiaalisten pelituntien määrää expotentiaalisesti.  Ihanaa kun Dungeon!issa on niin paljon pelattavaa soolona, kaksin kuin lukuisammallakin sakilla 💔

Dungeon! really opens a whole new line of adventure games for its player. After the Dungeon! it's easy to learn other  (D&D licensed) board games with rpg elements, and it's also easy to learn tabletop rpg games after learning the rules of the Dungeon!.. No matter, was it D&D or any othe fantasy rpg game available...

Liitän tähän linkkeinä Dungeon!in viralliset sivut, Dungeon!-infosivut ja viimeisenä vaan ei vähäimpänä Dungeon!in sääntökirjan, joka on kätevästi tsekkailtavissa PDFnä netistä. Sääntökirjassa on selostettu selkeästi ja helposti ymmärrettävällä tavalla myös miten voipi luola(!)illa soolona. On tämä vaan kaikessa yksinkertaisuudessaankin monipuolinen peli. Monikäyttöinen näpsäkkä peli, jolla on aika paljon uudelleenpeluu-tunteja, kun on kaikenmaailman kortteja ja muuta vaihtuvuutta, ja sitä voi pelailla ihan keskenään omana tykönään kuin kaksin tai vähän isommallakin poppoolla. Lisäksi lautaa, kortteja ja miniatyyrejä ja markkereita voi hyvin käyttää myös roolipelisessioissan tai miniatyyripeleissään luolastoja kolutessaan. Paljon iloa siis yhdessä paketissa! Suosittelen todellakin kaikille, joita luolastokoluaminen kiinnostaa ollenkaan!

I enjoy the look of the game, it's so colourful!

Dungeon! the board game was first released on 1975 and it has had quite a few revised editions through the '80's and the '90's. The latest edition (as far as I know) is from 2010's. The Dungeon! is played all around the globe with its many, a bit different, but all so exciting, editions. When I played the Dungeon! the first time, I was still a small child. At the time, I had already played some story telling games, miniature games and a bit Dungeons & Dragons and I was already a huge fantasy genre nerd. So, it really wasn't any surprise that I fell in love with the game immediately! The game just blew my mind and hit hard with a hammer. I was just like, woooow: dungeons, heroes, adventures, dragons, magic and treasures -wohoo! We really played the game a lot in my childhood with my parents, siblings, neighbours and relatives. And I played it a lot by myself as an experience and practise of solo playing. I honestly don't remember, was there, those days, any official solo mode in the rules, but I am more than happy that the game now days have also a solo playing rules. At least, to me the solo rules are good and I have had fun wit playing this gas as a solo game.

The game really was (and still is) a gateway game to role-playing games, and after I learned the the Dungeon! game's rules by heart, it was way more easier to really play Dungeons & Dragons with my parents and their friends. I gotta be honest, I haven't ever been a True Fan of Dungeons & Dragons fully (I still have played it a lot and AD&D even more!), but I was totally a Dungeon! -nerd and I'm pretty sure that it's totally safe to say that I am now even more than ever! The game board is soo cool looking with the right "feel" to it. The essential rules are printed on the corner of the game board, the board has 6 level dungeon, and it's fully functional dungeon. The board feels and looks good with the miniatures and with the cards. It's easy and fast to learn and fun to play. Because it has sturdy roots with the Dungeon & Dragons and a lot common (it's basically D&D but with a board and cards and waaay easier rules), it really makes easier initating people to (D&D and other) role-playing games... It totally eases the learning process of essential things in D&D rules. After  playing Dungeon! you have familiar setting, dices and even having a character is something that You learn in Dungeon!

The cool thing with the game is that, You can play it as it is (as a solo game or with other players!), or as an warm-up game before D&D sessions, play it between the sessions, or use it as a gateway game before entering to the awesome world of role-playing, or You can combine it with D&D, or... As a someone who modifies games, makes home-brew rules and own games, and as a someone who also mixes games and components together, I find the content of the Dungeon! game, very useful. The board can be used in almost any dungeon dwelling rpg / & gaming sessions, and also the miniatures and (at least, some of) the cards can be used, playing D&D (in my honest opinion, especially the 3rd ed or 3.5 or 4th ed.) or with the other fantasy games. I also like how the game is packaged and how it's handy to pack back to the box and to the shelf, and how it's moderately small  in size and how light the game box really is. It also looks good on the shelf. All in all, a great fun game that has huuuge playability in hours and on various gaming styles. It's whole lotta good stuff in a single box. Cool to game alone as a solo game or with the friends together! So much fun to play! I sincerely recommend the game from the bottom of my heart.

Magic the Ascension: Arena of the Planeswalker -pelissä on magiaa, elementaaliolentoja ja kaikenmaailman otuksia, maageja. maastoa, taktiikkaa ja seikkailua

In the nineties and the early 2000's there was this cool and very popular board game called Heroscape, which was a huge succes, and then just "wooof!", vanished in the thin air. The all so loved game the Heroscape sadly doesn't exist anymore. The producer(s) and manufacturers of the Heroscape have tried to restart the game, few times, but haven't yet managed to succeed in their efforts. The reason why I mention this all, is the simple truth behind the Magic the Gathering: Arena of the Planeswalkers  the board game. Yes, the 2014-2015 published game, truly is an official MtG product and an official Planeswalkers product, but under the nice logos, the stamps and all the hoccuspoccus, lies the ugly truth. The truth is that, all these logos and such, really are just toppings, mere cosmetics, and what the MtG: Arena of the Planeswalkers, really is, is just another attempt to replace the Heroscape. Not so surprisingly, the MtG; AotP can be expanded with few supplement boxes and with those supplements, the game looks more and more like the original Heroscape boardgame from the nineties.

MtG: AotPssä on paljon miniatyyrihahmoja, melkoisesti taikuuskortteja, on maastjoa, ja pelissä on elementtejä niin noppa-, kortti-, miniatyyri-, taktiikka-, strategia-, lauta-, kuin roolipeleistäkin.

So all in all, for players who have bought this game to play some kind of 100% MtG board game, this must have been a biiiiit dissapointing purchase. And also, for those who love the Planeswalker settings, this truly is dissapointment, too. So, if You are looking a boardgame with all the MtG & Planeswalkers elements, lots of lore with the familiar world setting, and whole lotta wizarding to be made with the familiar magic cards and spells, You propably don't want to get this game. And also if You want the exact feel of the Heroscape, and if you wan to to have all the familiar components that the Heroscape game had, You might want to skip this product. All though, if You are willing to expand the game with other supplements to feel more familiar Heroscape experience, this actually may be a product for You. But if You are looking a cool looking fun to play boardgame with magicians and elements, monsters, an interesting kind of board, different kind of magic (and cards) than in Mtg, a bit MtG feel on the top, a hint of the Planeswalkers touch on the cherry on the top of the game-pie, and especially if You like a game that has some elements of the Heroscape, You really have a great game juuuust for You!

Varsinkin, jos tykkää siitä, että pelissä on koottava kartta, monenmoisia nappuloita, tavallisesta poikkeavia noppia, kortteja, ja kaikkee jännää, niin tässäpä sitä on laatikko täynnä silmä- ja sielukarkkia

So the Magic the Gathering: The Arena of the Planewalkers is kinda cut & paste game which is achieved by combining bits and bobs from various sources. The End result could have been very down-letting compromise (and I agree that for some, that's what it exactly is) for a game. But to me, it's honestly a genuinely good combination of dice gaming, board gamin, card gaming, miniature gaming, a bit of role-playing game elements, a bit of tactics and even a hint of strategy. So it's a cool and  bubbly wild bunch, even it's  practically a really down to earth game with a "No hassle -Let's play!" attitude. This is a especially really great game for those who love card games, board games, miniature games, role-playing games, and rolling the dice, because this game has elements from all of those game styles. Still it's not hard game to learn. Quite the contrary: it's easy(ish), fast paced and fun to play. It also has a solo mode, which is always nice thing to have, especially in as good game as this.

Tykkeen siitä kö mukana tulloo kaikenmuaailman vipeltäjjää ja viheltäjjää... on eri värisiä nappuloita, joita voi halutessaan maalailla, ja esimaalattuja nappuloita, ja kaikkee kivaa mitkä ovat ihan yleishyödyllisiä matskuja käytettäväksi muissakin peleissä...

And for the persons like me, this box is full of many kind of goodies. The magic cards can be easily used in many other games. For example, the magic cards work just fine as random adventure tools for writers, or for mages in role-playing games. All the miniatures, pre-painted and non-painted are easily converted (or used as is) in various kinds of miniature games, role-playing games, in other board-games (eg. in Dungeon! the board-game, mentioned and reviewed above), or simply as decorations. Would be awesomely great decorations, hanged in the Christmas Three. The game board can be assembled many ways, as a gaming map, battle map or used as a moving scenery, or what ever You want to play/do with it! The other side of the map board pieces have cool pics and information of the gaming characters, which may work as some kind of story telling device(s) and props in story telling games, and in role-playing games, too. Dices, scenery pieces, terrain pieces, markers and such, can be re-used in various kind of games: in rpg & in miniature games. So, even if Ya don't like the game (anymore) so much, You can  always dibble dapple with the terrains, miniatures, figurines, dies, and so on. So it's a handily and neatly packed and printed very good looking box of treasures full of stories to tell, things to look at, things to be painted, booklets to read, and lots and loads of whole lotta pieces of gaming pieces and devices. So with getting this box game, You get a lot for your pennies, cents, dollars, yens and euros! So, I really recommend this for the people who like a bit different kind of games that differ from the mainstream games. And peeps who love to convert minis to their own daft home-brew games, this is a present that keeps on giving! And it also has gaming supplements that You can get and make the game even way more cooler than just with this one box, which is full of life, just as it is...

Markkereita, karttapaloja, noppia, kortteja, maastoelementtejä, ja sääntövariantteja... onhan noita, niitä kun koko boxi on täynnään

Jos joku sattuupi vielä muistammoon semmoittisen pelin kuin Heroscape kultaiselta(?, more like kusiselta) ysikyytluvulta ja kakstuhattaluvun alkupuolelta, niin tietää suurinpiirtein mistä  Magic the Gathering: Arena of the Planeswalkers  -pelissä on kyse. Heroscape oli aikoinaan erittäin suosittu ja tunnettu ja tuottajilleen, valmistajilleen ja myyjilleen erittäin tuottava peli, joka mystisesti lopahti kiinnostamasta ostavaa yleisöä kuin taikaiskusta. Niinpä Heroscape on kadonnut valmistettavien pelien joukosta, valitettavasti. Tokihan sitä on yritetty uudelleenjulkaista ja huumaa uudelleenkäynnistää, siinä vielä toistaiseksi onnistumatta. Vähemmän yllättäin Heroscapen uusinta tulemista kaupataan noin 2014-2015 julkaistulla, Magic the Gathering ja Planeswalkers -lisenssien virallisella lautapelituotteela. Ongelmana vain on se, että jos odottaa täysipainoista Heroscape -peliä, 100% MtG -(lauta)peliä saatika MtG-yhteensopivaa peliä (jota tämä *ei* ole), totaalista Planeswalker -peliä tai edes vanhan ajan kunnon täysiveristä Heroscape -peliä, niin tämä *EI* ole mitään noista. Ihan oikeasti ei ole. Sen sijaan tämä on peli, jossa on noista kaikista edellämainituista  hieman jotain. Lisäksi roolipeli-elementtejä sisältävästä lautapelistä tämä käy myös, ja hienoisesti taktiikka-pelaamistakin on tarjolla, ja pikkiriikkinen himppusellinen strategiapeleihin vivahtavaa settiäkin. Eli jos tykkää noppapeleistä, korttipeleistä, lautapeleistä, pöytäpeleistä, pikkuisen taktiikkapeleistä, inauksen verran strategisoinnista, ja jos tykkää lisäksi pienoisista roolipelielementeistä lautapeleissä, niin tämä on juuri täyttä terästä, stimangia ja mittatilaustyötuotemagiaa juuri Sinulle!

Tätä karttaa en aio karttaa, vaan aion käyttää sitä muutenkin kuin vain Mtg: AotPtä pelattaessa...

Magic the Gathering: Arena of the Planeswalkers -peliboxin hankkiessaan saa melko-nopeasti opittavissa olevan helpohkon lautapelin, jota on suhteellisen nopeatempoista ja vallan hauskaa pelata. Pelissä on erilaisia maastoja, seikkailemista, magiaa ja maageja, monenlaisia elementtejä ja otuksia, on taktikointia ja tuuriakin pelissä. Pikkaisen jopa roolipelielementtiäkin hahmoa pelatessa. Peliä voi pelata yksin sooloversiona taikka porukalla. Soolopelimoodi on aina extraa peleissä, ja erityisen hieno juttu se on näin mukavassa ja monipuolisessa pelissä. Pelille voikin kertyä melkoisesti käyttötunteja. On myös hieno juttu että pelille on julkaistu lisäosia, jolla voi laajentaa entuudestaan peliä, jolloin se entisestään on vielä enemmän vanhan kunnon Heroscapen kanssa, ja muutenkin pelistä kuoriutuu tätä pakkausta monipuolisempi peli, joka on vielä mahtavampi peli kuin mitä tämä peli on tällaisenaankin.

Kaiken hyvän lisäksi peli on täynnään kaikkia käyttökelpoisia miniatyyrejä, noppia, pelimerkkejä, maastonosia, karttapaloja, magiakortteja ja muuta materiaalia, jota voi helposti käyttää muissa peleissä tai yhdessä muitten pelien kanssa. Nappuloita voi ihan hyvin käyttää vaikkapa edellämainitun ja ylläarvioidun Dungeon! -pelin kanssa, Dungeon & Dragons -roolipelin tai monen muunkin roolipelin kanssa. Nappulat ja markkerit käyvät hyvin myös muihin miniaryyri- ja lautapeleihin. Karttapalat ja maastoelementit toimivat hyvin myös muitten miniatyyri-, lauta- ja roolipelien kanssa. Muutoinkin boxista on iloa muutenkin kuin komeana koristeena hyllyssä. Nappuloitahan muuten voi pitää vaikkapa koristeina, peräti joulukuuseen ripustaen, niin halutessaan. Kaiken kaikkiaan boxi on täynnään kaikkea kivaa ja tästä saa yhdellä hankinnalla paljon kaikenlaista kiiltävää, joista on melkolailla loputtomiin iloa. Lahja, joka ei lakkaa antamasta! Suosittelen tätä ihan oikeasti valtavirrasta erottuvien pelien ystäville ja heille, jotka tykkäävät että pelien nappuloita ja muuta täyhkää voi kätevästi kierrättää muissakin peleissä. Oikein lystejä pelihetkiä teille kaikille rakkaille lukijoilleni!
